Perl programming and consultancy

Internet applications

Castle Amber has been writing software for the Internet for over 8 years. The first CGI programs were created on Silicon Graphics hardware running IRIX using either Perl or shell scripting (csh). Later also GNU/Linux was used in combination with the Apache HTTP server and the open source database MySQL. For Java related projects Jakarta / Tomcat, an open source servlet engine, was used.

More recent programs include web page, and newsfeed generation software, and web robots (e.g. spiders, chatbots) mostly written in the Perl programming language.

Castle Amber has also a lot of experience with search engine optimization (SEO), meaning optimizing your website for search engines like Google. For example my personal home page (Perl programmer John Bokma's home page) receives over 10,000 visitors a day, and has been on the first search engine result page (SERP) for "perl programmer" (without the quotes) in Google for over a year.
